Alzheimer’s Advice

24 Hour Multiple Sclerosis Care

Alzheimer’s Disease is largely associated with memory loss in seniors over 65.  It is a form of dementia that impairs the cognitive ability to perform simple tasks like adding and subtracting, balancing a checkbook, or turning off the stove after cooking.  It is a heartbreaking experience for family members to watch their grandparents forget who they are.  Sometimes it helps to open a photo album to jog some memories.  As Alzheimer’s progresses, a senior’s long-term or short-term memory recall completely shuts down.  The emotional and psychiatric aspects of this disease are more intrusive and unpleasant.  In the more advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, a senior will have angry outbursts and increased agitation, making it difficult for others to be around them.

When an elderly person reaches any stage of Alzheimer’s, it would be best to hire a caregiver who knows how to respond when the elderly person is having an episode.  You as the primary caregiver can only take so much; you need help, even if it’s a few hours to get a break from your routine.  You need help for your own sanity and having an extra hand to make dinner or bathe your parent helps a great deal.  A-1 Home Care provides 24-hour service, 7 days a week, and our phone lines are always open!
