Veterans Benefits in Lakewood

The Veterans Administration offers eligible veterans a monthly monetary payment to assist with the costs of daily living. For those Elderly and Senior individuals who need homecare, but don’t have the financial backing available, the VA can help.

The VA offers two benefits – Veterans Pension and the Aid and Attendance benefit. If you aren’t eligible for pension because you don’t meet the income requirements, you can still be eligible for Aid and Attendance.

For both benefits, the applicant must have served at least 90 days of active duty with one day during a wartime period. They must also be 65 years old or older, or be permanently disabled, or receiving Social Security Disability insurance, or receiving Supplemental Security income.

Income must not exceed the amount set by Congress to qualify for Veterans Pension. To be eligible for Aid and Attendance, the applicant must submit a report to the VA that provides evidence of their need for in-home assistance from another individual. A physician’s report detailing their condition and whether there is a disease or injury that prevents the individual from performing activities of daily living or staying safe at home.
