Lou Gehrig’s Disease is a neurodegenerative disease that is named after the famous baseball player who was diagnosed with the illness. Lou Gehrig was an all-star pitcher who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) when he was in his 30s. ALS is typically developed in the early half of one’s life, and progresses with age. At the late stage of the disease, it is difficult to swallow, move and eventually breathe.
