Sakinah Butler discovered her calling when she needed to provide at home care for her mother who had Muscular Sclerosis. She has been a caregiver for the elderly and seniors since 2006 and choose this profession because she likes to take care of people, especially those who can’s fend for themselves. Sakinah says, “Being a caregiver for seniors gives me a wonderful feeling, it gives me great joy”. She has learned patience over the years, something vital for any successful caregiver. “You can’t get upset that a client can’t do certain things” –in home caregivers are there to help clients with all the things they can’t do on their own.
A-1 Home Care recognizes Sakinah for her heart-felt care and dedication to our clients. For the last 2 years, she has been providing hourly in home care services to Eleanor S. in Pasadena. Sakinah considers being able to help Mrs. S a blessing, she gains great joy by assisting her. In order to communicate with Mrs. S who is blind and deaf, Sakinah had to learn how to use the client’s Netbook. Sakinah says, “Eleanor is wonderful, I love her because she’s so sweet. On Mother’s Day, I sent her a Netbook card and flowers”.
A-1 Home Care appreciates Sakinah’s determination to make a difference in the life of someone elderly and disabled who needs her help. “If you can, and are able and willing, go forth and help. There’s nothing wrong with helping. I feel good after leaving work even though I am tired. Just hearing Eleanor say “thank you” means a whole lot to me.”
